The Vision of a future Lunar Society 
There are organizations today selling land on the moon, but for what use? It would make more sense together with accommodation in habitats there, being included in the sale. But even then, naturally, areas on the Moon 'belong' to those who get established there first. As it is now, various organizations who would do that, would be competing with each other and wasting their resources by reinventing each other's wheels and likely create conflicts of interest as well.
This is what the Lunar Union wants to prevent, by letting all cooperate to develop and use the same technology and most of all, to build and manage a Lunar Infra Structure, in short, a society. In fact, an ideal one, not possible to create on Earth, where obstructive elements can hide anywhere - there is no such refuge on the 'naked' Moon ...
The Lunar Union is envisioned as a non-political and non-religious organization, formed by all individuals and organizations who want to habitate the Moon, starting today and growing the decades ahead until we have the technological and economical means to realize it all. This web site does not claim any authortity in a future Lunar Union, nor does its author have the ambition to be the self-proclaimed leader/founder of it, just being "the (thought provoking) Inspirer" for it instead. You and all others who want to, will have to accomplish it - united we stand ...
The present idea is that we all register in on Facebook, while this site will develop further by the results of it. Once and if Facebook would become too "smal" for this, we'll have to think of other ways, but that is future music as yet.
The colonization of the Moon can in a way be compared with the colonization of the Americas; millions of individuals leaving Europe on their own initiative, not controlled by any government. The Lunar Union has to come about in a similar manner, just prior to reaching the Moon, where fortunately are no 'natives', who can claim any rights, neither can anyone do so on Earth, but Mankind itself!
However, our ancestors only needed ships to reach the New World, after which they could manage themselves. On the Moon we cannot - the naked, unprotected human body would die within 1/10 th of a second after being exposed to the vacuum. The chance to survive on a sinking ship in the middle of an ocean, or even from a plane crash, is infinitely larger than in a damaged habitat on the Moon (due to fire, leaks, etc) - zero chance, nowhere to go. To cope with this, we need a technology planning, a system, as proposed on the following pages.
Business and governmental organizations cannot do this, as they are adversaries in the greed for power and profit, thus splintering their resources against each other and so nothing much will happen in the end. The Moon is a project by and for Mankind, that is the people, you and I, private individuals all over the World, who create an organization by the hundreds of thousands, the millions; it's name: the Lunar Union!
Now, who is going to design and build moon bases that enable a population of colonists to live and work there, not specifically specialist astronauts only? People like you and I can do that, thousands, eventually millions of common people, yet being qualified in many fields, combining all the skills needed. Those who contribute with their skills, can earn a home on the Moon, while others simply can buy one, all options are open for everyone.
That is the idea of the Lunar Union, many people working together to achieve it.
As this site develops, you will be given the opportunity to choose you task in this effort, including designing your own lunar home. Together we will design a working and living environment on the moon and transport systems to get, sustain and eventually build cities there.
